I'm a dog groomer now, and am learning on everything from Afghans to Yorkies. I enjoy my job so much! It's not like anything I've done before, and could probably spend every waking minute in that store. The customers are great, and my bosses are even better.
My basement is being (slowly) renovated. I have a new bedroom, linoleum in the bathroom, baseboards, lots of paint... :] It's coming along really nicely.
Dante, my oldest hedgehog, passed away on June 22.
There are plans for a rough collie puppy next year. My shepherd-mix, Fred, was rehomed to a pet-free family because of extreme cat aggression. I need a year to clear my head and save money, but my breeder is excellent. I've already spent so much time with the dam! The breeder takes me out running with her dogs, lets me walk and train the dam, and has been giving me more dog info than I can process.
...and I think that's as personal as I can afford to get in these public entries. Sorry again for the lack of art, but I haven't been feeling too creative lately.

Wtf is up with honey?
It's one of those things that you just never think about it. It's not like food -- you don't sit up and go, "Hey, I want honey." And it's not a popular condoment, either, like ketchup or mustard. You rarely eat honey on anything. It's not served with any meals or desserts.
So wtf is up with everyone knowing what it is?
Seriously. Who doesn't know about honey? My toddler cousin does, and I'll bet all her toddler friends do, too.
Where do we pick this up? When do we all eat something with honey in it? Because I haven't had tea with honey or a peanut butter and honey sandwich in a long time. And not everyone eats/drinks those! So wtf!
...
It's thoughts like these that are great examples of why I should sleep normally. Because really. The last two nights I've had nightmares, and I'm home alone, and then my head fills up with these sorts of conundrums.
(And yes, I'm eating honey. XD)

Okay, no. It's not. IT'S FRIDAY!
I saw Juno earlier today (A.K.A. Thursday), and sdgjklsdg, it's cute. <3 I really wish pregnancy was that whimsical and fluffy. I liked the clothes, too.
And tonight has been awesome in the most random ways. l3 My mom is taking me clothes shopping, I have two pairs of shoes, and I found a tub of sugar-cinnamon cream cheese in the back of the fridge, where nobody bothers to look. IT TASTES SO GOOD.
I really like Angel. D8 I'm onto season 2 now, and augh, GOOD CHARACTER IDEAS. Once I catch up on all the posts I owe, I'm going ahead on character design. #__# 'Bout time I created a new one, anyway. And it will be EPIC HOT.
Oh! I went for sushi this week, too. For being a formerly-picky eater, I'm amazed by how many new foods I love. I tried several new sushi rolls, and they just got better and better.
And I'm far too indecisive. In twelve years, my cat has been:

She can't tell the difference between the last two, but Nemo sounds cuter than Meimo, and reminds me of something nautical. XD Not the dinky little clownfish. (DAMN THAT DISNEY MOVIE.) It's a good thing I'm getting her a new vet in the city... our old vet is already "wtf" at the constantly-changing names.

Some of my new presents that weren't mentioned in my last update are:
-a renewed devART subscription
-a year-long livejournal subscription
-Perfume, Quills, and Stay
And, after watching all my Christmas DVDs, I also got to see I Am Legend and Wristcutters: A Love Story. X3 They're both awesome. I highly recommend 'um! Legend doesn't have the hyped-up great ending, but it's a good story nonetheless, and Wristcutters is just cute.
Living in an underemployed city is awesome. I'm handing in my resume at a nearby dog grooming parlour and holistic food store. Then I can wash dogs for a living! I'm ready to be bitten, covered in sticky hair, and smell like wet dog. But if that doesn't work out, I'm just going to apply over at Chapters. <3 Books and coffee!
For Christmas, my cat got a bunch of catnip mice. I'm so sick of stepping on them. lD The little princess loves dragging them around, and leaving them by my bedside, or near the bathtub.
What else, what else... I always have so much to write about, but most of it falls out of my head when I open up the 'update journal' page. IN ANY CASE! <3 I've lost track of journals and deviations. It was bound to happen.
(And yes, I revamped my journal. Again. Is the text too hard to see?)

Christmas
...*grins* It's beautiful.
It has a 15" screen, 2GB of RAM, and 160GB of storage. I've already put Photoshop on it, and Windows Vista isn't quite as bad as I imagined. Once I get my music and Word on, it'll be good to go. >]
It also came with a wireless mouse, and my parents gave me a wireless keyboard and mouse for my PC, too. All matching, all shiney new.
I also got a load of DVDs, and six seasons of the X-Files. My X-library is complete... >D I have all 9 seasons.
I have $60 of Chapters gift certificates to spend, and my older sister bought me an edition of PostSecret. <3
Add in tons of chocolate, chai bath bombs, and Pez, and you have my Christmas!
Everyone liked the gifts I got them -- especially the big fur-trim slippers for my dad -- and we're going to visit my dad's side of the family this weekend.

New Years
I've been trying to think of stuff to do for New Years. Nothing stupid, like lose weight, because... y'know, those don't stick. XD And I certainly don't expect a resolution to cement any new personality traits.
But I'd like to start keeping track of books that I read, and that sorta thing. I have a terrible memory, and it'd be neat to know that stuff... especially now that I'm reading more.
And as for New Years itself, I'll probably be chilling out at my aunt's place. XD Whoo, good times! What do y'all have planned?

Semester 1: Complete
Today I wrapped up my exams. I expected the day to be cramped up with tests; my first exam ran from 9 until 12, and the second from 2 until 5. Just my luck to be the first one finished in the morning exam. XD I was out by 10!
I met my half-sister for coffee, and after she ran off, I met Matt for lunch. We were then joined by Kyla, and had, like... a two hour lunch break. l3 Then Matt and I ran off to take our afternoon exam (we're both in Film 100), and let me say: Gym exams are scary. *___*;;;
After both exams were finished, I went up to residence to chill out with Rachel and Robyn, two people from my hometown. It was another rousing session of gossip and chatter.
...what I'm trying to say is that I was busy. And I totally forgot what it feels like to see a bunch of people in one day. XD
Now I'm free!
Christmas Break
I don't know what to do for my Christmas break. I've finished my newest vampire book series -- the Twilight one -- and I don't have any new series to start. l< Ho, hum.
I've got to go finish Christmas shopping, though. I know what I'm buying everyone, and where to buy it... I just don't feel like leaving the house. XD Next year? I'm going eBay.
And other than that, yeah! Things are in "unicorns-dancing-through-meadows" mode. Everything is awesome, my life is stress-free, and I've got a big playlist of perky music waiting for me in iTunes.

ouran host club
I needed something to distract me from studying! So I'm pleased to announce that I'm getting onboard the 'Ouran' bandwagon. l3 I'm on episode 6 at the moment, and getting closer to the end every day. (Damn Megaupload. D< Download limit, my ass!)
I really like it, omg. ;; But I guess you can expect that from a yaoi fangirl, eh? THE TWINS. THE TWINS. <3333 I miss my old roleplaying redhead twins, so... these are a fantastic new substitute, ahaha. l3
And I rarely get into anime, so when I do, it's love at first sight. XD FMA, Death Note, Hellsing.... they're all wonderful. Any recommendations? I'll need something to replace Ouran once I finish. (It's such a short series. Aww.)
And I'm kind of keeping up with comments still. o___o;; It's a MIRACLE.

my life
I should be showering, but all the hot water is gone. So here I am, updating my devART journal. XD Because it's what the cool kids do.
As it turns out, I totally can't decorate bedrooms. I love my clutter and posters and black/white combo, but... wow, I suck. Lol. It would be easier if I could paint the darn walls, but no, it's a rental house. D:
My cat was getting matted fur all over one side of her body. :[ Her newest hobby is flopping on the carpet and dragging herself across it... getting her fur all messy and knotted. So last night I had to take scissors to it. XD Poor Mama has a huge bald spot now. LOL. She's very sensitive about it. Wouldn't sleep in the bed last night, and glared at me from the floor.
I scanned a bunch of crap from my sketchbooks, too. <3 Nothing worth putting up, but if you wanna see it, send me an IM or note or something! (KATIE, THIS IS FOR YOU. XDD)
university (mostly)
Today is my last day of classes! Now I have four exams between the 10th and the 17th. The hardest one -- philosophy -- is first, naturally, but at least it'll be out of the way!
I half-slept for a few hours last night, but got no rest. Straaange dreams, too. XD Now I just look owly-eyed and dark. The dreams weren't entirely unpleasant, though, so I think it was worth it. l3
And I got my schedule for next semester, too! ;; Omg, it's pretty darn good. Wom. Studies, English, Psychology, Anthropology, and a nighttime lecture thing. The lecture looks the best. <3 It's called "Cultures of Queer", and everything on RateMyProf said that the professor is amazing. 8D Whoo!

I've managed to mess up my sleep schedule. XD Again. I'm now up from 2-3 PM to 4-5 AM. Normally, I wouldn't complain, but there isn't much to do at 3 in the morning. ;___; So I've been trying to fix it by sleeping... and I've been getting too much. LOL. Go figure. 83
Friday rocked. *kajiq phoned me around midnight, and we talked about really random crap. <3 I love phone calls. And I came up with two more good roleplay plots! My mom left me that new vampire book (Twilight, I think?), so after everyone on AIM goes to bed, I stay up and read.
Aaaand... aside from that, there isn't much to tell. :] I'm just enjoying the ride.

over 11k!
You guys are the best. XD I can't believe I passed 10k, let alone 11k.
As some sort of "I'll be better about this", I cleaned out my inbox. I was up to 2,000+ deviations, and half that many journals.
I've managed to keep up so far. And I know you hear this way too often, but I really do try to comment. <3 I look at every deviation and journal entry.
So here's to hoping I can keep up with it!
happy saturday
I've been scooped out of my rut! With enough happy music, anything is possible, and I've found what I used to have.
I've been drawing, roleplaying, and chatting with new people. I slowed down for a long time, and... man, I totally forgot how much fun this is. XD
Every time I open a book or turn on the tv, I want to write down character ideas. I have a hundred good plots. I bought a new notebook, and have used thirty pages in two days. I'm not gonna scan anything, I don't think, but my head is in the game!
I gave up on NaNoWriMo, but roleplaying is so much better anyway. I'm not going to get published -- that wasn't my goal -- and as far as "fun factor" goes, I'd rather be interacting with another person than shut away with my pen and paper.
And it shows, I think. I got a sky-high mark for my English in-class essay (12% over the class average, which is a big deal to me) and sped through a philosophy in-class essay this afternoon.
So things are going good. :] The Grey Cup is on Sunday... my mom is hosting a party at the house. Specifically, in my basement. I'm locking the hedgehog room and my bedroom, and sleeping through it. XD I hope.

I have a bedroom with a computer in it. I have a cellphone. I have a TV to watch all my movies on. My hedgehogs have an entire room. I'm never too hot or too cold. It's just... sdgjklsjdg. <3 DOMESTIC BLISS.
And today is my tenth day without soda. I was up to five cans a day, and I stopped cold turkey. I expect to see clearer skin and/or weight loss... and if I don't, I'm going back to coke. XDDD
...IN OTHER NEWS. NOTES SUCK. If you've sent me any, I haven't recieved 'em. =___= Which is awful, because there are a few I'm looking forward to. SO.

The minute that I went back into my corner, where my computer used to be, I felt like talking to Neeka. It was just like a school night again, where I wanted to stay up late and roleplay and have FUNNYFINGERSomggg. It's like feeling homesick. ~___~; I miss her and I miss our characters and I just kinda felt overwhelmingly lonely. There was a lot that was never really said, and all our plots were left unfinished (especially Kaspar/Claus <3), and now that I'm back, it doesn't feel over.
My bedroom is empty except for air mattresses, and filled with creepy things. I walked into two spiderwebs on my way to bed. And I went to bed early... 6:30. Before we'd even had supper. XD I woke back up at 1:00 with a spider in my shirt.
It's just not nice. Hopefully we sell this house soon. There's something to be said about that 'link to your childhood', and when I'm older I'll probably miss it, but it's really bothering me now. I don't want to remember Neeka, and I don't want to remember every time I stayed up all night with the flu, and I don't want to remember all my birthday parties and my dead pets.
I'm putting in a lot of hours at work this weekend, though. :] My boss gave me opening to closing on every day that I'm back. So at least I'll get out of the house a little.
I hope the Canadians on my list have a really good Thanksgiving!

I strung orange Christmas lights through the rafters. They reflect off the glass on my computer desk, and are generally the coolest thing ever. Frick, I love my Christmas lights. I'll take (better) pictures eventually. <333
And University is wonderful! I could never go back to a small town style of school. x3 My classes rock, my schedule rocks, and I have the best English teacher in the world. I've found so many people there, too... it's scary.

It's going pretty good. 83 I love it there. And it lasted more than one day, which is more than I can say about dishwashing.
In other news, it's very hot and very muggy and I can't wait for winter again.

Journal Entry: Sun May 6, 2007, 9:43 PMShould they represent you physically (ie. big nose, hair/fur color, etc.) or emotionally (ie. docile, loud, etc.)? What did you choose your fursona based on?
I love Nana, and I love Spaniel, and... I just dunno which one represents me better. T___T; I haven't found an animal that really looks like me yet. A sheep is too fluffy and pretty for me, and a spaniel is just a typical dog fursona. But the spaniel fits better with my devART name.
I don't want to go through the big "YEAH LET'S CHANGE MY FURSONA AGAIN" stage, but I'm not pretty enough for a sheep, and I don't act like a spaniel. I don't want to make up my own animal, either, because heaven knows there's enough of that on deviantART. I don't want to be a llama/hedgehog/salmon. XD
